The court battle for the VhaVenda throne continues in the Thohoyandou High Court on Wednesday.

Princess Masindi Mphephu believes she’s the rightful heir to the throne and that she’s being discriminated against because she’s a woman.

She’s opposing her uncle, Toni Mphephu Ramabulana, who has been the acting king of VhaVenda since 2012.

Battle for Vavhenda ThroneMphephu’s late father, Tshimangadzi Mphephu, led the VhaVenda from 1993 until his death in 1997.

In 2004, government established the Nhlapho Commission, which recommended Ramabulana as the next king.

Ramabulana’s lawyer argues the young woman didn’t claim her right to the throne at the time of the commission.
