Skolopad’s manager Tebogo Mofokeng revealed that the local entertainer has been offered various forms of “payment” in exchange for se-xual acts.

Tebogo confirmed these reports saying: “Yes, Skolopad has been offered different forms of ‘payment’ –  in order to advance her career – in exchange for s.e.x. These offers have not necessary come from record bosses, but people who have a lot of money.”

“The men who are asking for these favours don’t always offer money but promise to advance her career,” he said.

He added, “I am not a pimp.”

In WhatsApp messages between Tebogo and one man, the man in question asked for “hot pics” in order to “promote her” and promised to “take her beyond SA.”

He also asked for “private entertainment.”

Tebogo is in on the receiving end of these messages as his contact details are listed on all Skolopad’s social media accounts. “Maybe these men think that because I am a man, I will agree to their terms. But I am appalled that this type of behaviour has become so normalised. It is horrible that women are being seen as se-xual objects, and are being preyed on,” he says.

“Skolopad is promised to be taken care of if a meeting between her and the man is arranged. There have also been requests from men for private dances. Skolopad is not an exotic dancer.”

In a previous interview with The Juice Skolopad spoke about how she is struggling to find funding to get her career off the ground. Tebogo confirmed this saying that it is “difficult to get to events.”

Tebogo also revealed that Skolopad was reportedly approached by government officials to perform at events. After “more than one” performance Skolopad has still not been paid, and was not assisted in any way.

Update on Joburg Building Fire – 6 MORE DEAD… ‘GENERATOR CAUSED THE FIRE’. 6 more people have been reported dead in the Joburg building fire.

Paramedics had reported one person dead earlier today but the number has now risen to seven. One of the victims died when he jumped from the burning building.

It is unclear from which floor the man jumped, Johannesburg Emergency Services spokesperson Nana Radebe told News24.

The City York building in the Johannesburg CBD caught fire this morning. It is not yet clear at the moment as to what caused  the fire, said the Johannesburg Emergency Services spokesperson, Nana Radebe.

Joburg Building Fire

The fire brigade used a ladder to remove the individuals that were stuck at the building’s roof.

According to Johannesburg Emergency Services, the fire at the building has been extinguished.

Meanwhile… A Woman who has been staying in the hijacked Cape York building in Joburg’s CBD for over a year said today’s tragic fire was caused by a generator.

“You know we don’t have electricity or water in the building, so someone was using a generator and that is what caused the fire. All we saw was flames and we ran for safety,” Rashadi Ditriech said.

Ditriech and a few other residents were sitting on the pavement while the fire was being extinguished.

The 24-year-old said more than a 100 people were staying in the building.

“When the fire started, two people jumped from the fourth floor. Everyone was shocked and they had to run away, bra. You know what I mean,” she said.

Emergency services spokesperson Nana Radebe said seven people had been confirmed dead.

“One jumped and six other died of smoke inhalation,” Radebe said.

Radebe said seven others had been taken to hospital. Two of the seven had burn wounds to their hands and feet.

Over 50 people had been rescued from the building. Radebe said the fire had been extinguished.

Zambian President declares state of emergency – UPDATE

$

0

Zambian President Edgar Lungu invoked a state of emergency on Wednesday in a move likely to trigger fresh accusations of government authoritarianism, AFP reports.

Political tensions in Zambia, seen as one of Africa’s more stable and functional democracies, have been rising since the arrest on treason charges of main opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema, who narrowly lost to Lungu in a bruising election last year, according to reporters.

Hichilema, along with five others, is accused of trying to overthrow the government after a column of opposition vehicles failed to make way for the president’s motorcade.

Under Zambian state of emergency laws, the police can prohibit public meetings, close roads, impose curfews and restrict movements.

The last state of emergency was declared in 1997 by then president Frederick Chiluba after an attempted coup. It was lifted the following year.

Zambian President Edgar Lungu

Lungu said the fire, which destroyed the southern part of City Market in the capital, Lusaka, on Tuesday, “bordered on economic sabotage” and was aimed at making the country ungovernable.

Nobody was killed or injured in the blaze.

“I have issued a statutory instrument proclaiming that a situation exists in this country which if allowed to continue may lead to a state of public emergency. This proclamation will be tabled in the national assembly,” Lungu said in a televised address.

“There is no doubt in my mind that the intention of these perpetrators is to make the country ungovernable and as president of this country it is my responsibility to respond to forestall chaos.”

Police have said some people were planning to vandalise vital installations, including bridges and power stations, after the blaze.

They said one person had been taken into custody for trying to torch a bus station and they were seeking those who vandalised electricity transmission lines to a suburb near the capital last month.

Hichilema, leader of the United Party for National Development, was arrested in April when police raided his home and charged him with trying to overthrow the government.

An economist and businessman widely known by his initials “HH”, Hichilema was defeated in August last year by Lungu in an election that the opposition politician denounced as fraudulent. His attempts to mount a legal challenge have been unsuccessful.

ZANU PF forces rural voters to attend their political meetings/rallies against their will

$

0

There have never been free, fair and credible elections in Zimbabwe since 2000 particularly in the rural areas where the majority of voters live (about 70 %) accounting for 143 contestable constituencies out of 210. Voters are coerced to vote for ZANU PF against their will through violence and intimidation and this has always assured ZANU PF of predetermined and illegitimate election outcomes in their favour.

The ZANU PF and Mugabe’s strategy of forcing the electorate to vote against their will involves the following:

1. ZANU PF forces rural voters to attend their political meetings/rallies against their will where they are told how to vote for ZANU PF. Those that attend opposition rallies are identified, denounced and later punished.

2. On voting day, voters are marshalled and frogmarched to polling stations by village heads and queue in a predetermined order with the village head at the back ordering everyone to vote for ZANU PF.

3. Literate voters such as teachers, civil servants (In some cases ZEC polling officers) and known opposition party supporters are also intimidated and forced to feign illiteracy so that they are assisted to vote.

4. There was widespread violence in the 2002 and 2008 presidential elections, Many people were assaulted, murdered and property was looted or destroyed. Women were also raped. ZANU PF succeeds in using this as a reference point to intimidate the electorate to vote against their will and the voters have nowhere to turn to for help.

linda masarira

5. Violence during elections is state sponsored. Known perpetrators are not arrested. Polling day in Zimbabwe is made peaceful in order to hoodwink election observers into believing that elections are free and fair

This strategy of forcing voters to vote for ZANU PF against their will using violence, intimidation, coercion, destruction of property and abuse of traditional leaders started on a large scale during the by-elections held in the following constituencies:

Marondera West in 2000

Bikita, Bindura, Makoni West, Chikomba in 2001

Presidential elections and Insiza by election in 2002

The strategy was perfected and employed on a greater scale in June 2008 Presidential elections run off. It usually focuses on coercing defenceless rural voters to vote for ZANU PF against their will. However in the 2008 Presidential elections run off, the strategy was used in urban high density areas as well.

In 2013 there was no widespread violence used but intimidation was rampant with war veterans and ZANU PF youths and officials threatening villagers with a repetition of 2008 atrocities if the rural voters disobeyed orders to vote for ZANU PF against their will.

WHY HAS THE STRATEGY WORKED

ZANU PF has been able to use the strategy of coercing people to vote against their will since 2000 with impunity due to the following:

No opposition party has ever fully exposed the ZANU PF strategy of coercing people to vote against their will. Instead the opposition dwells on minor, peripheral and sometimes fictitious issues. This is a diversion which takes away focus from the core issue of the ZANU PF strategy of coercing voters to vote against their will.

Examples Of Diversionary Issues And Tactics Used By Opposition Political Parties To Protect The Strategy

a) They loudly accuse ZANU PF of using a defective voters roll to rig elections. However, the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCPJ) in the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) report notes that a voter’s roll can never be perfect in any country .A perfect voters roll cannot stop ZANU PF from coercing people to vote against their will.

b) They call for the amendment, repeal and realignment of the country’s electoral laws. But it should be noted that ZANU PF and the state violate The Zimbabwean Constitution, local laws, regional and international laws in an effort to coerce voters to vote for ZANU PF against their will. Therefore adding more laws whilst existing ones are not being respected cannot solve the current problem.

c) A shadowy Israeli organization named NIKUV which opposition parties have accused of manipulating election results in favour of ZANU PF is a creation of a discredited Facebook character Baba Jukwa, in 2013, yet coercion of rural voters has happened since 2000. Thus this NIKUV fiction came when we already had our problem

d) The ZEC Report on the 2013 Harmonized Elections and the findings of an investigation into Mliswa’s Complaint in the 2015 Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) Report, clearly highlighted the ZANU PF strategy of coercing voters to vote against their will as the major rigging mechanism. These reports were tabled in Parliament. However, opposition parties looked the other way and never discussed them.

e) The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission in its pre-election press statement of 29 July 2013 reiterated that “we are ready to receive complaints about any possible election related human rights violations and any other general human rights violations…We will take appropriate action where necessary including, but not limited to, directing the Commissioner General of police to investigate cases of suspected criminal violations of human rights as constitutionally mandated.” However, opposition political parties have failed to work with and take advantage of well-meaning constitutionally constituted state institutions to deal with electoral state sponsored violence.

f) In 2013 there were 9670 polling stations in the country. There is no evidence that a single opposition party identified the problem of forcing voters to vote for ZANU PF. Yet almost all election observers picked it.

g) In the March 2008 Harmonized Elections ZANU PF relaxed the strategy of forcing voters to vote against their will. This was due to the intervention of SADC. Results were displayed at all polling stations and they were signed by party polling agents. This meant that each party could come up with its own results for councillors, Members of Parliament and the Presidential candidate. In April 2008, a recount was done in 23 constituencies. A verification process was conducted at the Sheraton Hotel at which every political party was required by SADC to produce its own results. The MDC – T failed to produce their own Presidential candidate’s election results. They could therefore not contest the results announced by ZEC. This failure possibly prejudiced the MDC candidate and the people of Zimbabwe of a great victory.

h) Opposition parties now believe that massive voter registration is the panacea for all our electoral problems. The message being relayed is that voters should gather courage and defy ZANU PF orders by refusing to vote against their will. Elections are not meant for brave voters. In the first place they must never be coerced to vote against their will. Opposition political parties and civil society organizations should therefore advocate, canvass and lobby for an end to the coercion of voters to vote against their will and not canvass for bravery. The brave ones are usually abducted and killed and voters have experienced this.

Mbalula calls for Joburg fire building to be demolished

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula wants a Johannesburg building demolished after seven people died in a fire on the premises.

Last month, Mbalula visited the building during a tour of a number of problem properties in the city.

One of the victims fell to his death as he tried to escape the blaze at the Cape York building in the CBD.

Officials are still investigating the cause, but residents say they use candles and generators because the property has no electricity.

Many residents of Cape York spent the night on the pavements. They said they did not have anywhere else to go.

Officials say it’s one of 85 hijacked structures in line for rehabilitation or condemnation.

Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba said that the city of was facing a housing backlog of about 300,000 units. The city had an average delivery of only 3,500 housing units per year.

Mashaba said slumlords were making matters worse by using poor and vulnerable residents’ desperation to their advantage by extorting huge sums of money from those who turn to them for shelter, even under the most horrible of living conditions.

“The building has been declared a crime scene for the duration of this investigation; we have agreed with the building’s owner that it will be sealed once the investigation is complete‚” Mashaba said.

23 year old Tello Mphulenyana was returning home after a night out when a group of thugs armed with pangas attacked him.

Now his family is mourning. The 23-year-old from phase 6 in Mangaung was hacked to death on Sunday morning.

Tello was murdered by members of the Maroma gang, who kill anyone they bump into in the early hours of the morning.

Keitumetse Matjoa
Keitumetse Matjoa said the three armed thugs attacked her friend Tello Mphulenyana after he tripped and fell while they were running for their lives.

Thabonyana Mphulenyana (32), Tello’s brother, said: “I last saw my brother on Saturday night when he said he was going out with friends.

“I never dreamt such a horrible thing could happen to him.

“My instincts just told me something was wrong.

“Just after I had that feeling, one of his friends knocked on my door and told me my younger brother had been stabbed.

“When I heard people screaming, I went out to see where my brother was.

“I found him lying in a pool of blood with panga wounds all over his body.

“This incident has scarred me for life.

“I am going to miss him a lot because we shared so many memories together.

“The thugs who did this to him must be arrested.”

Keitumetse Matjoa (25), Tello’s friend, said: “We were walking back from a local tavern to our homes when three thugs just appeared from nowhere and told us to stand still.

“We all ran for our lives, but Tello tripped and fell.

“That’s when the thugs started hacking his face.

“We tried to scream for help, but no one came to help us.

“The thugs kept saying the morning belongs to them and they don’t expect anyone to roam the streets at that time.”

Police spokesman Constable Pieter Kareli confirmed the incident and said an investigation is underway.

Kareli said: “A case of murder has been opened.

“However, no arrests have been made yet.

“Anyone with information should contact CrimeStop on 08600 10111.”

BUSINESS BOOMS AT CEMETERY: l NEVER EXPECTED IT TO BE LIKE THIS

You will be shocked if you hear what this man do for a living, selling ice-cream at the cemetery was the best idea ever, says Brighton Nyoni.

Brighton told us he used to sell ice cream in his area of Vlakfontein, south of Joburg but business was tough.

So earlier this year, he came up with the idea of selling it to those visiting the dead – and business is booming!

“I’ve been selling ice cream for as long as I can remember. I’ve tried to sell everywhere, including around schools. This year, I tried something new. I saw buses and cars heading to the cemeteries and followed them.”

His plan worked and in no time, people had bought his entire stock.

“I had to go home and fill the box up again.”

The 30-year-old said since then, he has been going to the cemetery three times a week.

“At first my friends thought it was a joke, but now they are amazed at how much money I make,” he said.

“It is almost always hot during the day and funerals start at about 10am.

“That’s when people need something cool.”

He said he doesn’t believe he is doing anything wrong by selling there.

“There are people here who sell cigarettes and other stuff.”

Brighton is looking forward to the day when he owns his own ice-cream depot.

“My dream is to register a business and start making ice cream to employ youth in my community and fight unemployment.”

VIOLENT DEMOSTRATION IN DURBAN ENDS UP 2 PEOPLE JAILED AND LEFT 15 INJURED

TWO protesters were arrested and 15 injured in a “violent protest” by shack dwellers in George Hill, Sydenham, Durban earlier today.

Abahlali baseMjondolo, the movement that represents shack dwellers, said they decided to protest because the mayor of eThekwini, Zandile Gumede, had not responded to their memorandum within the seven working days that they had given her.
On Monday 26 June Abahlali led thousands of protesters through the streets of Durban to the City Hall to hand the memorandum to the mayor.

They claimed she snubbed them and did not even send a representative from her office to accept the document. The march was sparked by the recent “repression and evictions” allegedly conducted by the eThekwini Municipality, they said. The movement wanted an immediate end to evictions.

Abahlali’s provincial executive committee member Blessing Nyuswa told News24 on Thursday that the seven-day period had lapsed on Wednesday.
“As a result, we decided to protest across the city because we haven’t received the answers we anticipated from the mayor,” she said.

The movement accused Gumede of sending police to repress them instead of replying to their grievances.”Fifteen of our activists, men and women, have been seriously injured by the police. We’ve just come back from visiting them at King Dinizulu Hospital. Some of our members were arrested.”

Nyuswa said police assaulted protesters with their batons and fired shots at others using shotguns.”They did not even use rubber bullets, but real ones,” Nyuswa said.
The movement had said, during last week’s march, that “violent” evictions had taken place over the past few weeks in informal settlements around Durban. They said these evictions had resulted in the death of a two-week-old baby, Jayden Khoza, and Samuel Hloele.
Mthunzi Gumede, mayoral spokesperson, said the municipality was still looking into the memorandum.

“Once we are done we will get back to them,” he said.He denied that police were sent to attack the protesters.”Everyone has a constitutional right to march but that does not mean violating the rights of other road users. Police were there to curb them from violating the rights of motorists who use that road,” he said.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Thulani Zwane said about 100 residents from Lacy Road informal settlement blockaded the RD Naidu Drive and Randles Road intersection with burning tyres at about 4am.

“Two suspects were arrested for public violence. The situation is calm at the moment.”
Zwane urged those who claimed to have been injured during the protest to come forward and open cases so that investigations could be done.

Superintendent Sibonelo Mchunu, eThekwini Metro Police spokesman, denied that officers used live ammunition during the protest.”That is not true; Metro Police always use rubber bullets to disperse crowds,” he said.
